Wissing
Instructor: Mrs. Wissing

First grade is a magical time in your child's school life.  During this year your child will have numerous opportunities to develop academic and social skills.  First graders spend a great deal of time reading, writing, exploring various math concepts and interacting with each other.   They also investigate various science and social studies topics.  In order to meet the specific needs of each child, small group work and individual conferences are an integral part of the day.  First graders become independent, inquisitive learners!

You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.  ~Clay P. Bedford

Snack Time
Every morning first graders will have time to enjoy a healthy snack. Your child may bring a treat such as fruit, carrot sticks, pretzels, crackers, etc.  If it is easier for you, your child may bring a box of crackers and leave it at school rather than bringing an individual snack each day.
